The story of Vietri started in 1983 with a family trip to the Amalfi Coast of Italy. A mother and her two daughters fell in love with the artistry of the hand-painted and colorful clay dishes used in the hotel at which they were staying. They asked the hotelier about who made the dishes. Using their taxi-cab driver as a translator and navigator, they located the factory and met with the owner. In a few days and with a handshake, the three ladies left Italy with a suitcase teeming with samples and their dream to create a company that embodies the spirit and enchantment of the Italian dining culture.
Today, Vietri still carries Campagna dinnerware which started it all. However, they now use over 140 Italian artisans to create their "Irresistibly Italian" dinnerware, flatware, and glassware. Vietri Pottery is crafted in multiple regions of Italy including Umbria, Veneto, Tuscany and Campania. Vietri dinnerware collections are made in the traditions of the artisans of the region in which they are made.
